No worries, here is a screen shot.
This comment was in response to a reaction video I did on Robert in a shelter. Nobody got the joke, some comments were just nasty – the result of this f’n “war in dog training” that Robert loves to push. In his words – “it’s us against them”. Us – balanced is 4 quadrants. Them – Positive Reinforcement – is 1 quadrant of that very same system of 4. And none of it makes any sense – but trainers want you fighting over it.
Robert responded with this comment – and he didn’t get the joke either.
Do people want to hear the joke of all this? It’s trainers from Positive Reinforcement to Balanced and everything in between that are pushing quadrants that are causing the shelters to fill up. Positive Reinforcement and balanced heavily push control and management of behaviours. That is a complete and utter failure to understand what a behaviour is in the first place. I hear Zak George talk ad nauseam about the cause – then focus purely on the symptoms. Balanced is the same. How often is the question “what is causing the dog to show aggression” asked? Rarely – but go to war with a dog that you haven’t even assessed or diagnosed.
These control and management cases are filling up the shelters with behavioural cases – because the average trainer could care less about understanding and fixing the cause of the behaviour. They call it “fear aggression” – no – the dog is showing aggression due to fear. You’re not focused on the fear – you focus on the aggression – the outcome of fear.
There is the joke. Now put that comment from Cabral in perspective.
