In Davids own words…
The only reason that a dog would do anything you want them to do is because there is either some kind of consistent reward for them doing it. Or some sort of consistent punishment for them not doing it.
There is your quadrants of dog training. If you don’t consistently reward and punish the dog for everything – then they won’t do what you want.
So all the proponents of ecollars and prongs – take the tool off altogether. Take that insurance policy off the dog and wait til something happens that you can’t reward and/or punish the dog for?
You already know what the result is going to be. That’s why your treats and tools are nothing more than an insurance policy. You can’t trust your dog – and that is on you – not the dog.
